Share links: passcodes, limits, and turning a link off

Every published Package has one link. This page covers the controls on it. They are all in the Share link panel on the Package.

Who can open the link

Anyone with the link can open it, unless you set a passcode. A passcode is 4 to 64 characters and is not part of the link, so give it to the reader separately (a message, a call). Anyone who already had the page open will need to enter it once you set one. You can remove it at any time.

Limits

Two optional limits apply to the link, not to the Package itself:

• Link expires. A date after which the link stops working. Leave it blank for no expiry.
• Maximum opens. How many different visitors can open it. Each new visitor counts once; the same person coming back does not count again.

Turning a link off

Turn link off stops it immediately for everyone, including anyone reading it right now, and cannot be undone. If you need to share the Package again, publish it again: that creates a new link, and the old one stays off.

Archiving a Package also stops its link until the Package is restored.

Changing a Package that is already live

Readers see what was published at the time. Edits you make afterwards stay with you until you choose Publish changes, so you can work on a Package without a reader seeing it half done.

Knowing whether a link was opened

The Activity panel shows what happened through your links: opens, which stories were read, files opened, links followed. Every count is per visit, never per person; a link can tell you it was opened, not who opened it. On a free workspace, open counts are not shown; they come with the paid plan.
